The County Dublin Beekeepers Association summer talks are aimed at members of the public with an interest in bees and pollinators who would like to increase their knowledge. It will also be relevant to beekeepers who have an interest in the relationship between honeybees and other pollinators.
The events will be led by Mary Montaut, who represents the Federation of Irish Beekeepers Associations (FIBKA) on the steering committee of the All Ireland Pollinator Plan and until recently was editor of An Beachaire, the beekeepers magazine published by FIBKA.
The talks will be held one night a week for 3 weeks during the month of May. The talks will start at 7.30 pm and run for approx. 50 mins followed by a Q&A with tea and coffee. The cost for the series of 3 talks is €50 to register please email biodiversity@dublinbees.org.

Introduction to Bees and pollinators in Ireland
The talk will look at different bees and pollinators in Ireland, their habits, and habitats. The status of pollinator populations in Ireland so far as it is known, the Citizen Science projects with Biodiversity Ireland and the All Ireland Pollinator Plan.

Bees and Pollinators in the Environment – Why Bees Matter
The talk will look at the role bees and pollinators play in our environment, urban and agricultural, our relationship with pollinators and our reliance on them.
Thursday 19th May
What can we do to help?
This talk will examine how our gardening practices can help pollinators, and how small changes in farming can make a difference for pollinators. It will look at the Irish native honeybee and its ability to thrive in our climate.
