Home Delivery Continues to Gather Pace

In a previous Food Alert article, I referenced the fact that the likes of Supper and Deliveroo are changing the Take-Away home delivery market as we know it.

Research published in the UK last week by advertising and technology company Cardlytics, confirmed that whereas overall spend on eating out of home in the UK had grown by 13.5% during the months of July and August, spend on home delivery during this same period grew by a massive 23% in the corresponding period in 2015.

Similar to what we are seeing in the Irish market, the growth in home delivery is driven by new players in this category, often offering healthier alternatives to what has been traditionally available.

Oliver Dewhurst, Country Manager with Deliveroo Ireland will present at Bord Bia’s forthcoming annual foodservice seminar that is taking place on 2nd November at the Aviva stadium, Dublin. He will look at some of the key changes taking place in home delivery in Ireland and how the latest technology is facilitating both operational efficiencies and improved interaction with end consumers.

At this full day event, Bord Bia will also be publishing a new piece of research quantifying the size of the Irish foodservice market, along with our 2016 Irish Foodservice Directory containing over 100 detailed profiles of the main foodservice operators and distributors.

Further information regarding the foodservice seminar and online registration is available via Bord Bia’s website here.
