About Floriade

A unique international event going back 52 years. More than 100 exhibitors will together pay tribute to horticulture. The park is over 150 acres and comprises five unique worlds, themed zones connected by wooded areas. Worlds in which you will see, feel and experience nature in a constantly changing way.

A Global Horticulture Spectacle

building

Floriade is a global spectacle in which many dozens of countries participate – a melting pot of cultures. Sustainable, pioneering architectural eye catchers, as never seen before, will be shown for the first time at Floriade 2012. With countless exciting, innovative and educational attractions and activities it will run from April 7th to October 7th, 2012.

You can also walk along a thematic route together with a guide or enjoy a bird’s eye view of the park from the 30-metre-high cable-car system.

The Benefits of an Irish participation:

Joseph Blair (Hortitrends) and Anthony Ryan (Hayes Ryan Landscape Architecture) have been in discussions with the Floriade organisers.

  • Floriade are offering us 250sq metres of free space to exhibit. The location is superb, close to the German border. The population catchment area is enormous
  • Two to three million visitors are expected to attend
  • The proposed location offered is at the heart of the exhibition
  • The gardens are interactive thereby maximising the visitor interaction for the sponsor. In addition there are numerous facilities for business 2 businesses conferences and events facilitating extensive activity surrounding the exhibits

The Proposal

The garden will be a visually striking garden both as a showcase design and to portray the sponsor and their produce in a positive light.

It will include a strong design framework, including focal point elements which arouse curiosity, draw attention and harmonise with both the garden design setting and the festival atmosphere of Floriade.

The overall design will be structured to arouse curiosity, provide strategic glimpse views to key areas and to draw people to the primary viewing area. From the primary viewing area, the full length of the plot is used to provide an extended flowing view. The offset planting drifts and features are maximised to full extent within the confines of the rigid outline of the plot.

The Sponsor

Would suit a large commercial sponsor who wishes to build, expand or maintain brand awareness in Europe. Is it you or do you know a company or person who may be interested?

Timescale

The Floriade organisers have reserved the space for us at present, but are anxious to firm up on this as soon as possible. The garden will have to be built before the end of March 2012.
