The Organic sector in Germany continues to show a strong performance with growth of almost 10% shown in Q1 2017. However this growth has not been enjoyed across the market with some organic specialist chains struggling, whilst mainstream retailers and larger supermarkets are performing better. There is evidence too of organic food and drink increasing its penetration into online sales channels via retail partnerships with key online players such as Amazon Prime. Bord Bia’s current Periscope study on Germany reveals that 84% of German adults have bought Organic food, showing clearly that the German shopper is open to organic.

Bord Bia has recently commissioned an in-depth local report into the Organic Sector in Germany, Europe’s largest market for Organic food and drink. A complete overview of the organic market will be shared with participants of Bord Bia’s forthcoming Organic Market Visit to Berlin on September 20th and 21st. Participants will be accompanied on visits to key retail and foodservice concepts, and each will have the chance to discuss tailored opportunities with the local agency Bord Bia has partnered with on this project. The trip will also incorporate a visit to a local organic trade show on the second day.
