Origin Green Gold Member Announcement Event
On November 19th between 13.00 hours and 14.00 hours via a virtual event, we plan to announce the inaugural Origin Green Gold Members 2020. Tune in to find out what companies have reached this new higher level of membership recognising exemplary performance in achieving certain target areas. We expect to announce 25 – 30 Gold Members from across all sizes of companies and all sectors.
At the event Mike Barry will present the keynote address on the importance of sustainability for the food and drink industry. He is an established and innovative sustainable change maker for food and drink businesses big and small. As former Marks and Spencer’s sustainability director, Mike implemented his ground-breaking program, ‘Plan A’ and delivered £750m of net business benefit in ten years. He has co-chaired the Consumer Goods Forum’s Sustainability Steering Group alongside the world’s largest retailers and fast moving consumer goods brands to scale sustainability across the global economy and has dealt with a wide range of sustainability challenges (commodity sourcing, climate change, waste/packaging and customer engagement etc.). Mike is also a Senior Associate at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and a Trustee at Blueprint for Better Business.
Origin Green continues to evolve to ensure that our industry is best positioning to be prepared to respond to the evolving needs of trade customers and consumers. A new Origin Green Charter provides further support for food and drink manufacturers, retailers and foodservice companies. New membership tiers provide bespoke supports to members at different levels of their sustainability journey.
A new sustainability credits scoring system, underpinned by the programme’s independent verification, was introduced to recognize those who exceed their targets. This makes it easier to identify members who are performing at a high level or excelling in their sustainability performance.
Companies are now eligible for Gold Membership where they have demonstrated an overall exceptional performance in the minimum number of credits required to achieve this designation within the appropriate membership tier. This event will recognise these our inaugural Gold Members 2020 and their sustainability actions.
