WRAP’s Resource Efficient Innovations Database (REID) is a dynamic tool to help businesses promote their resource efficient technologies, products or packaging solutions to the grocery supply chain.
The tool is used to assist companies within the grocery supply chain identify solutions that they could implement to help achieve the Courtauld Commitment 3 and the Federation House Commitment targets.
Both are major UK voluntary agreements supported by industry. Courtauld looks at improving resource efficiency and cutting waste within the grocery sector and the latter is reducing overall water usage.
Technologies can be promoted free of charge to companies all over the world via the database, offering organisations the opportunity to access new markets and customers.
APLIX® developed an EASY-LOCK closure system for a range of packaging. A cereal manufacturer recently launched a new flexible bag using this EASY-LOCK system, which is available across Europe for a selection of the company’s range.
The new bag is easy to close for people of all ages due to the ability to seal it closed without perfect alignment. This keeps the contents fresh reducing food waste problems.
WRAP is searching for more innovative technologies, products or packaging that could help the grocery supply chain to be more resource efficient and work towards meeting the Courtauld and Federation House Commitment targets.
Entries to REID need to fit the following criteria:
- improve resource efficiency,
- reduce carbon, or
- reduce the wider environmental impacts of the retail sector, particularly the grocery or home improvement sectors.
Entry on the database is free but submissions will be assessed for degree of innovation, relevance, and date of technology released and to ensure that text and images submitted are of high quality
