In recent months there has been a great deal of activity surrounding the labelling operation known as “Operation Chip It” in which CC Containers have been fitted with a new label incorporating an RFID tag.
Users can scan these labels in order to find out if a container is part of the CC Pool, and they can also apply this technology in their own business processes. Plant growers and traders have generally been satisfied with the labelling operation outcome as one shared pool of plant trolleys is now well protected and preserved for their daily operations. Within this pool, CC Containers can be transferred and traded, transportation costs reduced. In addition, broken CC Containers are repaired by Container Centralen.
It is now important to focus on the future. For this reason, Container Centralen and its shareholders, GASA Group and VGB, as well as FloraHolland are setting up an international quality project group to draw up a plan for the future. The Quality Group will outline the future design and pool management of the CC Containers, the level of investment required, and how this should be financed. As a result, users will be provided with a clear roadmap for the years to come.
The Quality Group will start working this autumn and is expected to come up with first set of action points before the end of the year.
The ideas, expertise and experience of users throughout the entire supply chain will be utilised in the development of this plan. The Quality Group will consist of approximately 25 participants: growers, auction houses, traders, transport companies and retailers. Changes already being considered such as the use of plastic will be incorporated.
The aim is to arrive at a plan for a future-proof pool of load carriers to enable the plant trade to move forward in the decades to come. Efficiently managed by a transparent and customer-friendly organisation, the CC Pool should continue to provide excellent CC Containers and functionality at reasonable rates throughout the supply chain.
