Vaccinium corymbosum ‘Hoogi045’ (Flamingo) produces numerous delicious, sweet fruits. But the most striking thing about Flamingo is its variegated foliage in the colours pinkish-red and green. Flamingo grows to approximately 1.00 m tall and 70 cm wide, prefers a sunny or partially shady spot and is acid-loving, so it prefers peaty or sandy soil. One of the parent plants of this Vaccinium is ‘Blue Crop’. Flamingo is ideal as a stand-alone on balconies or patios, in a mixture of plants or in borders. Handelskwekerij G. Hoogenraad BV from Ederveen bred the plant and submitted it for the showcase together with Van den Dool Cultures from Waddinxveen. Flamingo is protected under plant breeding legislation. Planttip BV from IJsselstein is responsible for the management.
