Nursery stock & ornamentals newsletter August 2017 – Teagasc Advisory

August is often the time folk turn to holidays and it’s no different for nursery growers and their customers. Some growers have remained busy in the last month, however, most are reporting a significant slow down as is expected.

Glas was held on the 20th of July and looked very professional – as good as any European trade show. It’s a significant growth from the first event held in City West taking up just 25% of the area occupied this year.

Well done to those who won awards for displays and new introductions; Hygeia, O’Connors, Kellys Nursery and Sanctuary synthetics. Billy Kelly’s introduction of Escalonina Pink Elle got lots of attention and was a popular winner.

Plant health is continuing to cause a stir in the background – especially how some countries are responding to it  – see below for information on Xylella.
