Minister Coveney Calls for Submissions for New Round of EU Promotion Programmes

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD has invited Trade Organisations to submit proposals for EU co-funded promotion programmes to commence in 2013. The relevant sectors are:

  • Internal Market : Milk and Milk Products; Fresh Fruit and Vegetables including Potatoes
  • Third Countries: Fresh, Chilled and frozen Beef, Veal and Pigmeat; Food Preparations based on these products.

Proposals will be evaluated by his Department and then by the European Commission, which encourages projects involving Trade Organisations in more than one Member State. Minister Coveney highlighted the importance of these promotional and publicity campaigns for EU products “I would like to see all Trade Organisations coming forward and submitting proposals for these valuable campaigns. We can be proud of our quality, food safety and hygiene, nutrition, animal welfare and environmentally friendly production methods.These campaigns enable us to showcase these attributes on the world stage.”

The closing date for applications is 13th of April 2012.  A further call will issue later in the year.
