Two courses in Organic Horticulture start in June 2013 at the Heritage Garden, Avila Centre, Donnybrook, Dublin 4, delivered by NICER Training in partnership with Cultivate with tutor Peadar Lynch:

The FETAC Level 4 Fundamentals of Horticulture and Plant Care introduces the basics and fundamentals of plant care and maintenance. Anyone interested in and passionate about gardening will be able to take the skills and knowledge from this course to start and maintain a garden.

The FETAC Level 5 Growing Edible Crops course is for active gardeners or those with some experience and who would like to develop their expertise in the propagation, cultivation and harvesting of food crops.

Participants on both courses learn the basic skills and gain the experience to plan, develop and manage small gardening projects. Ideal for anyone interested in gardening, from raised beds to planters and containers to those interested in working in a community or group setting and those involved in educational projects.

Fundamentals of Horticulture and Plant Care

This course teaches you all you need to know to garden successfully. Learn how to plan, develop and manage small gardening projects.

Ideal for : beginners, gardening enthusiasts, active jobseekers, anyone interested in home and allotment gardening. Ideal for anyone interested in gardening in a community or group setting.

  • 6 day course (1 day per week)

  • Tuesdays from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

Growing Edible Crops

This course is focused on how to grown your own fruit, flowers, vegetables & herbs. Learn the skills and gain the experience to plan, develop and manage small gardening projects.

This course is for active gardeners or those with some experience and who would like to develop their expertise in the propagation, cultivation and harvesting of food crops.

Ideal for: anyone with basic gardening knowledge, gardening enthusiasts, anyone looking to upskill their horticultural skills. Ideal for anyone involved in gardening in a community or group setting.

  • Leading to a FETAC Level 5 minor award in Food Crops
  • 7 day course (1 day per week)
  • €375
  • Thursdays from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • From 20 June until 23 July 2013 (additional class day on 16 July)
