The AIPH International Green City Conference will be held as the first-day event of the World Ornamental Horticulture Summit taking place in the Yanqing District of Beijing from 11th – 13th September 2019. The conference will feature prominent speakers from China and around the world to share knowledge and experience of Green City policies and strategies with a particular focus on the effective use of plants in reducing air pollution.

Revealed by his most recent major scientific research projects, Professor Xinxiao Yu will also offer a detailed study of the forest control function of PM2.5 and other particles.
Ms. Chen Guifen, Deputy Mayor of Yanqing District Government, also joins the speaker line-up. Ms. Chen will discuss her key role in realising ecological advancement through a range of strategies such as creating a National Forest City and promoting high-quality green development.
Referencing AIPH Green City Guidelines, AIPH’s Technical Advisor and conference speaker, Dr. Audrey Gerber will demonstrate the crucial role of plants in reducing air pollution; report on best practice in urban greening policies; and present examples of the implementation of such policies. Further speakers will contribute to the topic of reducing air pollution through urban greening and provide examples of major urban greening projects.
The AIPH International Green City Conference will form part of the 71st AIPH Annual Congress programme and takes place alongside the AIPH approved international horticultural exhibition ‘Expo 2019 Beijing’. The conference provides a unique opportunity to unite key decision makers, policy developers and city planners with landscape architects and horticulturalists.
