At the Ideal Homes Exhibition this weekend (25-28th Oct.) Outlook Gardens have launched a fantastic opportunity for those in the community sector wishing to benefit from a wonderful garden. The award-winning landscape design company is offering €5,000 in landscape design and build to a community project which expresses its desire for a bespoke garden tailored to the people they support. The community project must outline details of their community project and why a designed outdoor space would benefit those they care for.
Outlook Gardens, Dermot Kerins said “We have built gardens for over twenty years and we can see the enormous benefits it brings to those who wish to flourish in their own environment. Our team has engaged in many community projects, including the Temple Street Hospital garden and the Simon Community garden, seeing the joy it brings allows us to give back to the community and makes all the hard work worthwhile. We are excited at the prospect of working together with a community organisation in building a beautiful garden tailored to their needs and giving joy to those who use it.”
The Flourish Garden designed by Outlook Gardens at the Ideal Homes compliments the Show House designed by Helen McAlinden. Dermot designed space to escape the stresses of life and reconnect with nature. He said: In our “always-on” world, a garden can bring a welcome respite from the ever-increasing demands of our busy lives. A space where family and friends can connect and just “be”.. a place, friends and family can flourish in!
Dermot has seen a current trend towards outdoor dining and entertaining, and regularly incorporates these elements into their design. He believes that this is a fantastic way to encourage increased use of the outdoor space, but in our climate a simple cover is essential. The incorporation of natural and lush planting to attract wildlife is often missed and this is what makes a garden and reconnects us with nature, this is why our primary focus is always on plants. Each site and client has its own brief and we see it as our job to guide them based on our training and experience. We believe that all gardens should be individual to each client’s requirements but incorporate the timeless beauty of good design and well thought out planting.
Outlook Gardens have 20 years’ experience working in the landscape design, build and maintenance business. They have built gardens all over the world: France, Holland, Italy, South Africa, Chez Republic and throughout the UK. According to Dermot “throughout this time it has reinforced my belief that we have one of the best climates in the world and can grow an amazing range of plants. Growing plants in Ireland is within everyone’s reach whatever your level of experience or time available and at the end of the day gardens are all about plants. There has never been a more important time in history to plant a garden.”
