Acer palmatum ‘JWW7’ (Brown Sugar)

Acer palmatum 'JWW7' (Brown Sugar)

Acer palmatum ‘JWW7’ (Brown Sugar) is a very healthy and strongly-growing Japanese maple. In spring, the plant’s new shoots are chocolate brown to dark green. After midsummer’s day, they turn bright red and keep on growing until late September. Since the plant produces branches well, it develops into a good shrub in a short period of time. The branches remain bright red throughout the winter. Brown Sugar is a hardy plant and was bred by Jan-Willem Wezelenburg from Hazerswoude. It was submitted by Van Vliet New Plants from Stroe and will be placed on the market by Ronald Roos from Boskoop. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.

Albizia julibrissin ‘Pos 1’ (Tropical Dream)

Albizia julibrissin 'Pos 1' (Tropical Dream)

Albizia julibrissin ‘Pos 1’ (Tropical Dream) is the longest blooming, hardy, small tree for cooler climates. It flowers abundantly with large numbers of pink panicles on stems from early July to mid-September, with new flowers opening every day. Albizia is also know as the ‘sleeping tree’ because the delicate leaves of the fern-like leaf close like the hands of a Buddha each evening. Tropical Dream was selected as the best from a group of seedlings from the higher regions surrounding Seoul (Korea). Because of this, it is a very hardy plant that does not need to be protected. The tree blooms after two years and can reach a height of 5 to 6 m if not pruned. After 10 years, it can be pruned annually to encourage blooming, but this is not essential. Tropical Dream was submitted and will be placed on the market by Van Vliet New Plants from Stroe. The breeder is Johan Possemiers from Brecht, Belgium. Protection under plant breeding legislation has been applied for.
