The pdf document link below provides a simple chart of the certification process for new applicants. IMPORTANT Notice on the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS). Please be aware that if you want to avail of the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS) financial support from the Department of Agriculture (DAFM) you are required to do the organic farming training course. These will be run by both Teagasc and IOFGA (Mary Lynch), dates and venues will be available in autumn 2014 on IOFGA and Teagasc websites.
NOTE – You are required to have completed this course before applying for the Organic Farming Scheme.
The Organic Farming Scheme should be opened early in 2015, details of the OFS and application forms will also be available on IOFGA and DAFM websites soon. It will be essential that you have all relevant documents (application with IOFGA, conversion plan, etc) and training done before applying for the OFS. The proposed deadline for the OFS is 30th April 2015, but IOFGA would strongly recommend that you have all your paperwork in place as early as possible. It is possible that it may be an on-line application process only, but that is yet to be confirmed.
IOFGA Application: The pdf flow chart link below illustrates the certification process. When you receive your IOFGA application form you will be required to return the form to IOFGA with your conversion plan, soil analysis, maps and land lease (if applicable). Guidance on the completion of a conversion plan and other information required will be sent with each IOFGA application form. The conversion plan is not required for processors/non-farming enterprises.
Pdf flow chart link below also illustrates, in second column, how to apply for the Organic Farming Scheme operated by DAFM. You can get the application form from DAFM, call 053-9163400 or from IOFGA 090-6433680.
Note – You are required to have a fully signed licence from IOFGA before you can apply for the OFS.
