Agapanthus ‘PANAGA’ (Blue Infinity)
Agapanthus ‘Panaga’ (Blue Infinity) has exceptionally large flowers with a diameter of more than 30cm. The numerous flowers and the development of new spikes throughout summer ensure that the plant blooms endlessly, hence its name Blue Infinity. The bright blue colour, which is typical of Agapanthus, is enhanced by the dark blue, central stripes on each petal. Blue Infinity is a large variety with sturdy stems that grow to 1 to 1.5 m tall. The plant is protected under plant breeding legislation and was bred by Nelly Panaget from Saint Martin des Champs (France). SAPHO from La Menitre (France) submitted Blue Infinity and also markets it.


 

Astilbe ‘Heavy Metal’
Astilbe 'Heavy Metal'The flowers of Astilbe ‘Heavy Metal’ are very bright red, in contrast to varieties such as ‘Fanal’, ‘Red Sentinel’ and ‘Glut’. The enormous thick, full panicles and the large petals are striking. The plant grows to approximately 65-75 cm high and is very suitable for pots, in the garden and as a cutting plant. ‘Heavy Metal’ was bred door H.G.J. Verduin from Heemskerk and protected under plant breeding legislation. Compass Plants B.V. from Hillegom submitted the plant for the novelty showcase and also markets it.

The clematis starts blooming in early May and continues to produce new flowers until October, so the flowering period is unusually long. The dark green leaves are trifoliate. The upright, spread-out flowers are 8 to 12 cm in diameter. Prune lightly after the spring flowering. The compact plant grows easily, branches well, and features dark green leaves which contrast nicely with the white flowers. Initially, the flowers are lime-coloured, before turning cream and eventually ending up white. In the autumn, the flowers turn to light pink. WHITELIGHT® grows to a maximum height of around 1 metre. Since it remains compact, WHITELIGHT® is ideal for use on a terrace, or as planting in a bed. WHITELIGHT® can also be used by itself, of course. The winner is Nick van Rosmalen from Velp (NL). The sterile flowers have four petals in the original shape and are relatively far apart from one another. The branches are flexible and the bushy growth is as high as it is wide.
