Teagasc are key partners of a leading pan-European research group called NetGrow, that will develop new strategic management tools to assist food SMEs and agencies that support their activities, to become more innovative. Teagasc hosted a 3-day meeting in Dublin this week to review the current stage of the research and to take some key steps to translate the research findings into practical tools that can be used by SMEs and support agencies.

Teagasc hosted a 3-day meeting in Dublin this week to review the current stage of the research and to take some key steps to translate the research findings into practical tools that can be used by SMEs and support agencies.
Minister for European Affairs, Lucinda Creighton TD met the EU-funded team during this meeting. NetGrow is co-ordinated by the University of Ghent, and the consortium also comprises representatives from 8 other countries. The food industry is the focus of the project for a number of reasons including its importance to both the EU’s and Ireland’s economy, its low rate of innovation coupled with high new product failure rate after market introduction and its high proportion of SMEs.
