The Teagasc Agri-environment Conference will soon be taking place in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, County Roscommon. With expectations of a greener Common Agricultural Policy following the next reform; just how will future payments be orientated towards the environment? This conference will provide delegates with a comprehensive update on the important issues relating to our farm environment.
Mairead McGuinness, MEP will deliver the Key Note address at the conference, providing an insight into the views in the European Parliament and in the European Commission on the proposed Greening measures in the CAP reform proposals. She will also provide a European perspective on sustainable farming.
In his address to the upcoming conference, Teagasc Director Professor Gerry Boyle will speak on ‘Food Harvest 2020: Green White Gold?’ teasing out the opportunities that exist for Ireland to expand its agricultural production in an environmentally sustainable way.
Speaking in advance of the conference, Teagasc Environment Specialist, Mark Gibson said: “Our conference this year will provide delegates with a comprehensive update on both policy and technical issues relating to the environment.”
