The British Carrot Growers’ Association has teamed up with Elsoms Seeds to re-launch its website www.britishcarrots.co.uk with a contemporary new design and fabulous new competition for schools to win a visit from the Captain Carrot theatre show.

Chairman of the BCGA Martin Evans said: “There is no doubt that more and more consumers are using the web to search for recipes and we need to ensure that British carrots have a high profile. The site encourages consumers to not just use carrots for roasts but also in salads, stir-fries, soups and risottos, as well as the ever popular carrot cake.”

Martin added: “We are delighted that Elsoms Seeds have agreed to sponsor the new website over the next three years. As times get tough we need to be more creative with our budgets and this has worked really well for us. Going forward we are looking for sponsorship on a number of other activities we are undertaking for the BCGA.”

Robin Wood, Managing Director of Elsoms Seeds, which is the UK’s leading supplier of quality vegetable seed, commented: “The BCGA members are a very important audience for us and so we are very happy with this partnership.”

The new site is highly visual with attractive food photography, 50 recipes, a children’s section, a downloadable recipe leaflet fronted by TV’s Dr Christian Jessen and feature boxes highlighting the green credentials of carrots and the fact that they are grown in the UK almost all year round. The site also introduces consumers to some of the UK’s leading carrot farmers including Clem Tompsett, MD of Tompsett Burgess Growers, strategic partners of Produce World, John Cook from Fenmarc, Tim Bradshaw from Sherwood Produce, David Summerland from Hunterpac Produce, Guy Poskitt from Poskitt MH, Martin Evans from FreshGro and Simon Pearce from Alfred G Pearce, who are all full members of the BCGA.

In the short time that the site has been live there has already been an increase in both time spent on the site and visitor figures.
