Coca-Cola (US) is set to announce white Coke cans in support of white polar bears and the World Wildlife Foundation or WWF. The white Coca-Cola cans are part of a marketing campaign aimed at protecting white polar bears and polar bear habitats. Coke has made contributions to the WWF over the past three years to help protect white polar bears and their habitats. White polar bears have become a staple in Coke‘s advertising since 1993 and the white coca-cola cans are the next phase in Coca-Cola’s cause related marketing efforts.

drpepper

Dr Pepper TEN is an apparent response to successful products like Coca-Cola Zero. It has been designed specifically for men who prefer the full-flavour experience of regular Dr Pepper but want a lower-calorie option without the diet imagery.

Actimel Launch New Bioplastic Bottles

actimel

Actimel’s new bottles are made from a minimum of 95 per cent bioplastic, using Brazilian sugarcane and produced by plastic manufacturers Braskem. According to Danone, just one hectare of sugarcane can produce enough bioplastic for over 550,000 Actimel bottles. Changing the bottle from oil-based to plant-based is a big step for Danone UK and is part of their wider sustainability journey. The remaining 5 per cent of each bottle is made up of non plant-based plastic from Danone’s production lines and the white bottle coloring. The bottles are non-biodegradable and 100 per cent recyclable, meaning they can be recycled in exactly the same way as plastic milk bottles.

These Energy Shots are made from the brand’s authentic, live, raw kombucha, with an added proprietary blend of energizing ingredients like caffeine from guarana, B vitamins and ginseng.

Cheese in an envelope

The Dutch cheese manufacturer Maaslander has introduced a new kind of packaging for its cheese in the form of an envelope. This re-closable packaging contains 65% less plastic. The double sealed envelope is made from a thin foil, which prevents the packaging from leaking and tearing apart. The envelope can be closed with a closure seal over and over again. The packaging line was developed specifically for Maaslander. The development took approximately two years to complete, from the initial concept idea to the launch.

QR codes take consumers inside the product

On SIG Combibloc carton packs, food manufacturers are incorporating QR codes that give consumers background information on the product right at the supermarket shelf. Macedonian food company Mlekara AD Bitola, for instance, is now using QR codes on the packaging of its 100% BiFruit juices. This QR code takes consumers to a special website via a direct digital link that provides recipes on how to make different seasonal cocktails.
