Purpose

Our purpose is to bring Ireland’s outstanding food, drink and horticulture to the world, thus enabling growth and sustainability of producers. In this role, you will provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Horticulture team whilst developing and leading execution of effective horticulture strategic growth plans for the sector. These sector plans are aligned to Bord Bia’s Statement of Strategy.
What you’ll do
- Lead the development and manage the execution of the Horticulture sector strategic plans in line with Bord Bia’s overall statement of strategy and agreed key performance indicators.
- Build and foster key relationships with all horticulture relevant clients and stakeholders at senior levels ensuring the sector priorities are mutually understood and addressed in plans.
- Represent Bord Bia and the sector at stakeholder events, roundtables and working groups meetings, professionally demonstrating sector knowledge and commercial experience
- Lead the insightful representation of the Horticulture sector and client needs in annual planning and budgeting process, through proactive cross-department engagement and clear and concise understanding of client and market needs.
- Lead the preparation for and delivery of regular updates, reports and presentations on the markets, sector activities and key projects updates to the Horticulture subsidiary board and the senior leadership team.
- Lead the engagement with Bord Bia cross-functional teams to develop and deliver the required supports and services for the sector and clients, including as appropriate marketing campaigns, insights, capability supports and programmes.
- Champion support for organisational initiatives through active client consultation and representation, such as Origin Green, talent programmes and capability development.
- Manage the performance of team members by determining and delegating priorities, through regular, formal PDP and PGP conversations and informal feedback and coaching.
- Ensure compliance and procedures related to budget management and procurement are strictly and rigorously compiled with in accordance with One Bord Bia procedures.
- Undertake, manage and/or deliver projects as assigned by the Director deemed critical to the delivery of sector and/or organisational strategy.

About You
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities
Knowledge:
- A minimum 10 years’ experience in a relevant field
- Degree-level qualification in Horticulture, Plant Science, or similar / equivalent subject
- Demonstrable experience working with or in the horticulture sector including the supply chain, with broad management experience, such as in production, commercial, business development, procurement or marketing senior roles
- Strong knowledge and awareness of the broader horticulture industry in Ireland with a track record of engagement and delivery
