The mushroom grower has been in operation for 17 years near Tipperary town.
Speaking to RTÉ news Peter McDonald said it was a sad day for him, his family and his workforce.
He said he tried everything to keep the facility open and it had survived the recession.
The company grew 1.58 million kilos of mushrooms annually with most of it being exported to Britain.
Mr McDonald said after the recent Brexit vote Sterling fell in value and this hit his company hard, lowering their earning capacity by 17%.
He said it was impossible to continue trading under such conditions.
A lot of the workforce is from abroad but the company also employed many local people.
