Our client, a retail nursery based in North Kildare are seeking to hire suitable retail staff for their operation. The successful candidate will take the lead in the nursery and take on some aspects of management. This role will vary and the candidate will be required to adapt to circumstances as required.
What you will be required to do:
- You will be involved in managing the Nursery, reporting to the MD and other senior management.
- Ensuring a clean and tidy environment, liaising with other colleagues, Plant husbandry.
- You will liaise with the Nursery production manager to ensure that all stock is produced to a high standard, and that best industry practices are implemented.
- Pruning and training of stock to the desired outcome and standard and to ensure maximum growth.
Records and reporting
- You will maintain all records in relation to the plants, for in-house purposes and to satisfy any statutory purposes.
Picking and Packing
- You will be involved in selecting stock for customer orders and also ensuring quality control is adhered to at all times.
Health and Safety
- You will ensure a safe environment for staff at all times Management of the team. You will liaise with and manage your colleagues on-site collaboratively and productively.
Plant sales and customer care
- You will be involved in selling to customers and in taking care of all customer needs.
Skills and Attributes you will require:
- Qualifications in horticulture are desired, however some experience is expected.
- Previous experience working in a nursery or garden centre is required
- Average level IT and admin ability will be useful.
- Leadership and management experience would be useful plus the ability to work both alone and as part of a team
- Good communication skills, a pleasant friendly manner and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with colleagues and customers.
