Growers, importers, handlers, and exporters of fresh cut flowers worldwide in association with the floristry and entertainment industry launched fundraising rose to help Ukraine. The ‘Love Always’ rose was on sale at a special benefit for Ukraine relief efforts on Saturday.
The global flower industry sent a powerful peace message of hope against the Ukraine -Russia war.
ONE the Musical – based on a love story in Ancient Egypt – hosted a benefit evening on 12 March with a giant, heart-shaped rose arrangement occupying pride of place in the foyer of the venue, the Studio’s Aalsmeer (formerly in use as flower auction). In the foyer, the ‘Love Always’ rose was on sale at a minimum price of €5.50 per stem.
The musical was free, but with 100 per cent of the rose sale proceeds going to charities supporting the people of Ukraine.
The event’s organisers urged all people working in floriculture worldwide to make heart-shaped flower arrangements and post pictures on social media. Images of heart-shaped roses for Ukraine are already going viral. Rose hearts around the world will arise in Brussels, Madrid, Vienna and San Marino.
At the time of publishing, the sum of money raised is unknown.
