The National Ploughing Championships takes place from Tuesday, 16th – Thursday, 18th September in Screggan, Tullamore, County Offaly.

The Teagasc presence at the National Ploughing Championships will be bigger than ever this year. Visit us at Block 4 Row 13 Stand 267.

What to expect in the indoor exhibit
In our marquee, visitors can meet Teagasc experts in education, farm management, succession, farm health and safety, and receive advice on all aspects of practical farming.

There will be a wide range of interactive exhibits such as:

• A simulator to test your fertiliser spreading skills
• Our Prepared Consumer Foods Centre exhibit
• Excellent food products made from carrots
• A scent test to measure your ability to smell odours
• A Help Desk for all advisory queries
• Horticulture, Farm Management, Succession, Organic farming and more…

What to expect in the outdoor exhibit
In our extended outdoor exhibit area you can learn about organic farming, forestry, and maximising the effectiveness of grass/clover swards. We will also demonstrate how Teagasc researchers are working to help farmers, for example, by using technology which employs infrared beams to measure ammonia loss from soils and slurry.

Our expanded outdoor exhibit will include:

• A life size bund showing how to prevent soil erosion reaching rivers
• Fodder demo showing how to get better, cheaper livestock nutrition

• Live cattle and sheep
