Launch of new label CC Container – CC TAG6 (UK)

Container Centralen introduces the CC TAG6 label, to keep the pool system fair and protect the CC Container Pool from the illegal inflow of fake containers.

From January 6th 2025, the current green/orange CC TAG5 label will be replaced by a new yellow label (CC TAG6). All CC Containers in the pool must be equipped with the new CC TAG6 label, complemented by a CC metal plate, to be recognised as compliant within the CC Pool system.

Why a new label?
The strength of the CC Pool system is that the re-usable CC Container is interchangeable between customers and users. Unfortunately, this also creates opportunities for abuse, which can lead to situations where customers have more CC items in use than there are on contract. To keep the pool system fair and to protect against abuse, as well as the illegal introduction of counterfeit containers, it is necessary to change the CC label regularly.

The transition process from CC TAG5 to CC TAG6
To ensure a smooth transition, Container Centralen has informed their customers and partners about this process since June. The new CC TAG6 labels will be distributed to all customers between the 1st of November and mid-December 2024. Customers are asked to remove the current green/orange CC TAG5 label before they mount the new CC TAG6 label on to their CC Containers. In 2025 customers will receive a compensation fee for their support with this relabel process.

Authentication of the CC TAG6 label
The CC TAG6 is engineered with advanced RFID technology and a complex design ensuring that only containers legally registered in the CC Pool are in circulation. This update aims to preserve the integrity of the system by preventing the inclusion of counterfeit containers, which undermines the quality and fairness of the CC Pool system.

For those without an RFID scanner, Container Centralen has developed an alternative authentication method via a mobile app, available for free for both Android and iOS devices from the 5th November 2024 onwards.

More information and instructions
Container Centralen will provide all necessary details in advance to ensure that everyone is prepared and well-informed. More information about the relabeling process and the CC TAG6 can be found on the CC website, including instructional videos and Frequently Asked Questions.

Container Centralen looks forward to implementing the CC TAG6, together with her customers, to close the pool again, for a fair pool. This as part of our continuous improvement program regarding services and a high-quality pool system.
