The focus is on how we, as influencers of design, can be guided from the natural world’s endless palette of inspiration and how our design influence should always have careful regard to the natural character of the landscape and its ecology.

Barry Kavanagh, Landscape Designer and biodiversity activist from Bailieborough in Cavan, teaches horticulture and design with the Cavan-Monaghan Education Training Board.
In 2015 Barry also founded a social enterprise called Nature’s PATCH Network Ltd, which provides services to community groups for the formation of landscape and biodiversity plans for towns and villages https://www.patchireland.com.
He designed two postcard gardens at Bloom in 2013 and 2014 (Awarded Best in Show),
His first large Bloom show garden in 2016 ‘Across Boundaries’ won a Gold Medal and the coveted People’s and Designers’ Choice Awards.
His Bloom show gardens for Trócaire – ‘Resistance’ in 2018 was awarded a Gold Medal and in 2019 ‘Stolen Land’ also won Gold.
