Cercis canadensis ‘The Rising Sun’, submitted by Joh Stolwijk & Zn. from Boskoop, has won the Plantarium Press Award in the category Garden, Balcony and Patio plants. In the category Concepts, this prize went to FleuraTerrazza concept, submitted by Van der Starre from Boskoop.
The jury was unanimous about the FleuraTerrazza concept: “It is a new, innovative concept for climbers. Simple and easy to use for the consumer.” Cercis canadensis ‘The Rising Sun’ was also a convincing winner. ‘The Rising Sun’ is an innovative Cercis cultivar. The decorative leaves can withstand the sunshine and turn a beautiful colour in autumn. A beautiful, vertical accent in the garden”, according to the jury.The
The Plantarium Press Award was presented by the chairwoman of the jury, Mrs Patricia Grolier, who works for Lien Horticole from France.
Second and third place
In the category Garden plants, seven entries were judged by the jury. Second place went to Diervilla splendens ‘Diva’, submitted by Van Vliet New Plants from Stroe, and third place went to EveryDaylily ™, submitted by CNB New Plants from Lisse. There were eight entries in the category Concepts. MixMasters®, submitted by Florensis from Hendrik Ido Ambacht, came second, and third place was for Magical Colours your Home, submitted by Kolster bv from Boskoop.
Judging
The jury for the Press Award consisted of 27 journalists, representing the following countries: Canada, Denmark, Germany, England, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland.
The 35th edition of Plantarium will be held from 23 to 26 August 2017 in the Plantarium
