The SSRH was approved by the Government in December 2017 and has been developed to increase the use of renewable energy in the heat sector by circa three percentage points.
Phase two of the scheme was officially launched on June 4th 2019 by Minister Richard Bruton TD. After a long gestation period, this important incentive is now live. The SSRH is very relevant to the poultry, pig and horticulture sectors in Ireland.
The current flow of queries on the SSRH shows that there is a knowledge gap around the practical engineering applications which are allowable within the regulations. Teagasc and SEAI have organised two “hands on” seminar’s on the practical application of the SSRH to biomass boilers. There will also be a presentation and discussion on the relevance of
solar PV to agricultural sectors.

- Biomass resources and sustainability criteria
- System quality and performance
- How the reduction in the farm’s carbon footprint could be of advantage in the market place
