French Horticulture Students Seeking Work Experience in Ireland

Dear Madam / Dear Sir,

For over two decades, the College of Horticulture and Agriculture of Coutances (Normandy – France) has been sending its students for on-the-job learning experience abroad and this year again, the “Lycée Nature de Coutances” is looking for summer placements for its forty 1st Year HND students (18-22 yrs old) in Horticulture (Parks & Gardens, Amenity Horticulture, Greenkeeping, Landscaping, Garden Design, Fruit and Vegetable Growing etc…) and five 1st Year BTEC students (16-18 yrs old) in Countryside Management and Environmental Studies.

We would therefore like to know whether it could be possible for you to welcome 1 or 2 of our students in your gardens or enterprise for a 4 week training period between June the 10th, 2013 and the end of August. Our students can benefit from a grant to cover their travel expenses. However, if possible, free accommodation in exchange for their work would be much appreciated since lodging abroad is rather expensive.

A training agreement covering all the terms and conditions of the placement would be drawn up and signed by the College principal, the tutor/work provider and the trainee.

If arrangements can be made, the prospective trainee will send you a cover letter to let you know about himself / herself, as soon as we receive details on your offer.

Hoping that you’ll view our request favourably, we remain at your disposal for further information and we hope to hear from you very soon.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Pascale GONTHIER
