It was a very successful start to a new partnership: As a result of its reorientation, Hortiflorexpo IPM Beijing gained strength and internationality.
For the first time, Hortiflorexpo, the most important plant trade fair in China, and IPM ESSEN, the world’s premier fair in the green sector, came together for a joint event in the Beijing Exhibition Center under a new title. 405 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions presented their products and services. In the fully booked fair halls, 16,586 visitors obtained information about trends in the green sector.
The figures mark a superlative: Hortiflorexpo IPM 2012 was the largest event of its kind ever to take place in the Beijing Exhibition Center. The fair was praised by the municipal district government in Beijing as well as by the representatives of the embassies of Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland. Egon Galinnis, Managing Director of Messe Essen: “We are glad about the effective new cooperation and about its measurable success. We are extremely grateful to our partner, the largest Chinese horticultural association – the China Flowers Association, for the fruitful collaboration.”
China is characterised by economic growth – also with a view to products and services for everything to do with plants, horticultural technology, floristry and sales promotion. On the one hand, there is a rising need for new greenery in urban areas and on properties. On the other hand, the demand is being supported by large-scale urban development projects in Chinese conurbations. The positive development of the market is also reflected in the development of Hortiflorexpo IPM.
The visitors and the exhibitors praised the fact that the range on offer at the fair and the supporting programme complemented each other in an outstanding way. Floristic demonstrations from Germany, the USA and Taiwan met with particular interest. The highlights of the fair included seminars and lectures about tree nursery and plant production from Italy and France. National participations came from Germany, France, the Netherlands and Taiwan.
