Return of the National Ploughing Championships to Athy for the third consecutive year – home of the first Championships in 1931
Athy in Co Kildare has hosted this prestigious event on four previous occasions, the first of which was in 1931, the first ever Ploughing Championships, the second in 1955 for the Silver Jubilee and last in Kilkea in 1985.
Athy is one of the best tillage belts in the country and the Fennin Farm on the Stradbally Road is an ideal location for the 2011 Ploughing Championships. The land is extremely good; the location is excellent and accessible, all these factors should make this year an extremely successful one as it did in 2009 and 2010.
