Businesses require increasing levels of environmental responsibility from their suppliers and a growing number of organisations consider environmental issues as a criterion in their purchasing decisions. IBEC, with the support of the Environmental Protection Agency and Greenbusiness.ie has brought together experts to explain how greening your supply chain can reduce costs and remove risk from your business. The aim of this workshop is to promote awareness of environmentally sustainable business practices which increase efficiency and reduce business costs.
Green supply chain management involves integrating environment thinking into supply chain management including areas such as product design, the sourcing of materials, manufacturing processes, product delivery, and life-cycle thinking for the end product. Business can also benefit financially from cost reductions, greater operational efficiency, enhanced value to customers, increased sales and positive media attention.
Failure to focus on your organisation’s environmental performance means missing an opportunity and exposing your business to unnecessary risk. Suppliers who ignore this trend will be more likely to lose out to competitors who have investigated the sustainability of their products.
THE WORKSHOP WILL PROVIDE GUIDANCE ON THE FOLLOWING KEY TOPICS:
- Development of strategic plans and objectives to green your supply chain.
- How to address your environmental responsibility in areas such as power consumption, use of hazardous chemicals, water usage, packaging, delivery and waste creation.
- Methods to communicate your company’s environmental policies to suppliers.
- How to assess the current practices of your suppliers, to ensure compliance with the environmental objectives of your organisation.
- Development of remediation plans if a vendor is not compliant with your environmental management requirements.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
- Suppliers concerned about their environmental impact and who wish to take action to improve performance.
- Organisations who wish to authenticate the environmental credentials of their suppliers.
- Organisations new to the language of green supply chain management and those already actively involved in greening their supply chain and resource efficiency issues.
