Bord Bia coordinated Ireland’s largest ever presence at Gulfood, the world’s biggest annual food trade show which took place in Dubai from the 26th February to the 2nd March 2017.

The Bord Bia presence across dairy, meat and consumer food was a significant and timely representation of the Irish industry following the Gulf States Trade Mission led by Minister Michael Creed. The Minister visited the trade show and exhibiting companies on their stands on Wednesday the 1st of March along with Bord Bia CEO Tara McCarthy.

Gulfood attracted nearly 100,000 food buyers from around the world. It is the world’s largest annual food and beverage show, showcasing 8 major sectors; Beverages; Dairy; Fats & Oils; Heath, Wellness & Free-From; Pulses, Grains & Cereals; Meat & Poultry; Power Brands and World Food. The scale of Gulfood was over 1 million square feet of exhibition space allocated to over 5000 international exhibitors, including more than 1,000 new-to-show food and beverage producers.

Green Isle’s Goodfella’s pizza range won the 2017 Gulfood Innovation Award for Best Halal Product Range. Green Isle’s Goodfella’s frozen pizza brand continues to build its market share in the Middle East, having recently launched in the Danube supermarket chain in Saudi Arabia.

Gulfood was a major success for the exhibiting Irish food companies who had several meetings and business connections throughout the five days. The Gulf region imports 90% of their food and this makes Ireland the perfect trading partner as we export 85% of the food we produce.
