Galen Fulford works with water as living infrastructure. He is the founder of Biomatrix Water, a company specialising in modular floating ecosystems that use natural processes to improve water quality, increase biodiversity and create new public landscapes.
Over the past two decades, Galen has delivered projects in more than twenty countries, from Scotland to the Philippines, designing floating gardens and parks for urban waterways, lakes and canals. These engineered ecosystems function as living wetlands, powered by plants, photosynthesis and biological processes rather than chemicals.
Galen’s work explores how ecological engineering can become part of everyday urban infrastructure — turning water treatment into visible, accessible and ecologically rich public space.

At the GLDA Seminar 2026, his talk “Designing and Building Floating Gardens and Parks” will present international case studies and concepts developed for Dublin’s Grand Canal Basin, focusing on how floating ecosystems can restore water quality and create new forms of urban landscape.
Galen Fulford will be speaking at the GLDA Seminar on Saturday 28 February 2026 in Dublin. Tickets and full seminar details: https://glda.ie
