As the annual Garden Landscape and Amenity Sportsturf (GLAS) trade show set for 17 July quickly approaches, more than 100 exhibitors across the trade await the one-day event at the National Basketball Arena.
GLAS is a prime opportunity for members of the trade to network in a marketplace, as 93% of visitors deemed GLAS 2024 “worthwhile” or “very worthwhile,” while 92% of exhibitors felt similarly.
Each year at GLAS, leading organisations are recognised through a series of awards. Our most recent winners were chosen by judges, Ursula Brennan of Tirlan, Ciaran Burke of Johnstown Garden Centre and Patrick Gleeson.
New Product New Plant Awards
Firstly, the Best Hardy New Plant went to Rentes Plants for its ‘Black Diamonds After Midnight’ Hydrangea. This special hydrangea is the very first to combine purple-black foliage with shapeshifting blooms that start lacecap and finish as mophead in a rich, deep red.
Best New Product was given to Green-tech for its ‘Tree Parker’ urban tree planting system. The system is designed to ensure successful urban tree planting applications.
Supplier of the year
Last year, Young Nurseries was crowned the winner of the Supplier of the Year award.
The owner of Young Nurseries, Nuala Young, attributed the achievement to Young Nurseries’ consistent quality throughout the year, efficient deliveries, and their passion for what they do.
Best in Show awards
Tully Nurseries won the Best in Show Horticulture Supplier award, impressing judges with their dynamic and eye-catching stand that attracted plenty of attention. Sales and marketing director Niamh Tully highlighted the value of participating in Ireland’s only annual industry show.
ICL took home the Best in Show Trade Supplier award, praised for the quality of their signage and the smooth, well-organized layout of their stand.
Sales development manager Brendan Howell noted strong visitor footfall throughout the event.
