Like every other education centre at present Teagasc Kildalton College has gone through major changes over the last couple of months. But now, with the current academic year coming to a close 2 months after we had to physically close our doors; it’s time to start thinking about next year!

Kildalton College will host a virtual event for prospective applicants to all of its full and part-time, level 5 and 6 horticulture courses in on Thursday the 4th of June at 4 pm. Any individual who wishes to join the open day must register at www.teagasc.ie.

The recent pandemic and restrictions in movement mean that potential students cannot come to the college for a tour but we hope that this virtual open day will still provide lots of information about horticulture courses and college life. Kildalton College are still taking applications for their Level 5 and 6 horticulture courses both full and part-time and this is the last opportunity for potential students to see the college before the closing of applications. During the event, college staff will provide a live panel discussion that will be interspersed with video footage of the college educational facilities and farm enterprises. Viewers will then have the opportunity to post their questions during a virtual question and answer session. With almost 50 years’ experience in horticultural education, the College boasts extensive facilities and experienced staff.

Kildalton College boasts a large commercial and amenity horticulture unit, with a commercial nursery, fruit and vegetable production units at the college. Students at Kildalton gain invaluable hands-on experience in all sectors of the horticulture industry. The 16 hectares of amenity grounds at the college consists of established gardens and woodland as well as sports turf facilities which are used for the training of students in the maintenance and management of amenity areas in a sustainable manner.
